Why Do We Have To Use a Green Furniture Design?
You must have heard the terms “green furniture”. There are some people who call this term with “sustainable furniture” and “eco – friendly furniture.” This term appears after an attempt to minimize the environmental impact of making and selling wooden furniture. In the past, people were making furniture by cutting trees arbitrarily. In those days people were not yet familiar with the term “green furniture” or “green furniture design.” However, at this time green furniture has a short history.
Green Furniture Design
In 2006, The Sustainable Furnishings Council was formed. The council was created to help furniture companies in adopting and implementing the good practices and to raise awareness issues of green furniture or good green furniture design. There are currently 324 members of the board who are from all countries in the world. Four major steps are being promoted by the association is to reduce carbon emissions worldwide, reducing waste stream pollutants, avoiding the use of non-material – recycling and avoiding the use of primary materials from unsustainable sources.
People use the term to describe all things green environmentally friendly. In recent years, the demand for green furniture and green furniture design has increased as awareness of consumers about on their carbon footprint. In the Sustainable Furnishing Council’s website states that “Your carbon footprint is the direct effect your actions and practices have on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. Probably the biggest Contributors to the furniture industry’s footprint are transportation and electricity demands in manufacturing and retail establishments “.
The Real Concept
You must understand that the term of green furniture or green furniture design used even when the smallest details in furniture that’s what changed. There are several categories of furniture that can be inserted easily green furniture just because it has low VOC paint used to paint the furniture. Most are low-VOC paints today and although every little bit counts, so this detail is small. If you live in the East Coast, but you buy furniture from the West Coast just because of this detail, this means you do more environmental damage than if you buy furniture that was manufactured and sold in your neighborhood.
Buying Furniture
If you decide to buy green wood furniture you should look for furniture that made from recycled wood. If you are difficult to find recycled wood the bamboo is a good option and environmentally friendly because it’s not a threatened wood. The closer their journey is to get the wood or furniture for you, the better to the environment. Green Furniture design with paints and stains that are made with water-based finishes and low VOCs are better for the environment.
If the number of consumers who follow the state of our environment and that influence their choice of this increase, the demand for green furniture or green furniture design will continue to increase as well. Nowadays, more and more manufacturers are producing furniture using environmentally friendly materials, and hope to come into the green furniture market soon.

I had taken this book out from a library to get some ideas for my final project in my cabinet making course and I just had to have it. I like the way the furniture is classified for each time period and also the many pictures and their discriptions.

I’d get some Power compacts to go across the top. Either 6,500K or 10,000K. Better yet-one of those with an Actinic bulb. That will bring out the colors, help the plants, plus they last a long time and are energy efficient.
